With their Premier League title hopes down the drain and only just escaping relegation by whiskers, Akwa United have started plans to win the trophy next season.
Club chairman Chris Ekong told KickOffNigeria.com that the club have mapped out strategies to do well next season and put them where they should rightly belong to.
"We hope to re-invigorate the team by bringing new tested players, while encouraging the ones we are going to retain.
"Our spending in the transfer market will be very focused to allow us the benefit of deriving value for our money.
"Our target this season was to consolidate and remain in the Premier League, because of the mistakes we made at pre-season.
"Since this has been realized, we now have to shoot for the top next season. We are not going to recruit a lot of players.
"This is because we don't want a situation where we are going to struggle with blending when the season starts.
"Immediately we finish the recruitment, we are going to camp the team in a place where they can concentrate to get ready for the new season.
"The boys would be motivated financially and now that the Uyo Township Stadium is ready, you can be sure that Akwa United will be the team to beat next season," Ekong boasted.
