Nkim Itiam - Ekom Iman Dualisation Project

The dualisation of Nkim Itiam - Ekom Iman road is a laudable project. I wish to use this medium to thank Chief Godswill Akpabio, the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State for such a bold step in awarding this very important road project.
This will inded go a long way in projecting the Akwa Ibom project such stretch of road, which before now was a big problem to the state and an embrassment to its citizens, was awarded to construction giants - Julius Berger.
I have no doubt in my mind that once the 21KM road is completed it will definitely boost the states tourism potentials.
Nonetheless, I opined that such a road can only add to the beautification of the state by making sure that the underlisted are provided in the design:

1. At least three lanes on each side.
2. A Pedestrian walkway on each side.
3. Landscaping/planting of grasses on the surrounding hills/vegetation.
4. Planting of trees on each side along the stretch of the road.
5. Provision of Functional Street lights along the stretch of the road.

You will all agree with me that such a pragmatic approach would always make this administration a focal point in the development stories of Akwa Ibom State.

Your comments and contributions on this topic is high recommended as no one individuals has the monoploy of knowledge.

Thanks for contributing

Otto Akpan is  of Akwa Ibom Origin currently working in neighbouring Calabar; Cross River State.
